Indiana LoRa is a community-driven project focused on building a reliable, independent MeshCore network across Indiana.

The project started in Northeast Indiana with a simple goal: bring together people interested in LoRa radio technology and create a network that grows through shared knowledge, community participation, and locally deployed infrastructure.

MeshCore allows compatible LoRa devices to communicate over long distances using a decentralized mesh network. Messages can travel between devices and repeaters without relying on cellular service, Wi-Fi, or traditional internet infrastructure.

Our community is made up of radio enthusiasts, technology professionals, hobbyists, makers, emergency communications volunteers, and anyone interested in learning more about LoRa and mesh networking. You do not need to be an expert or own expensive equipment to participate.

Our mission is to help build and maintain a community-supported MeshCore network throughout Indiana, beginning in Northeast Indiana and expanding as more people get involved.

We aim to:

• Deploy strategically located MeshCore repeaters
• Improve network coverage throughout the region
• Help new users choose, configure, and deploy equipment
• Share information about network status and coverage
• Encourage experimentation with LoRa technology
• Create a welcoming community for both beginners and experienced users
• Support communication options that do not depend on traditional infrastructure

A Community-Built Network

Indiana LoRa is not a commercial wireless provider or a closed private network. It is a grassroots project built by individuals who contribute their time, knowledge, equipment, and installation locations.

Every new node helps strengthen the network. A device placed at a home, business, tower, farm, or other elevated location may help extend coverage to an entirely new area.

Whether you operate a personal node, host a repeater, help test coverage, develop software, or simply want to learn, your participation helps the network grow.

Starting in Northeast Indiana

Our initial deployment is focused on Northeast Indiana. By concentrating our efforts locally, we can build a strong and dependable foundation before expanding into additional regions.

As participation grows, we hope to connect communities throughout Indiana and eventually create a larger statewide MeshCore network.
